A header is a line that appears at the top of every page in your document. A footer is a line that appears at the bottom of every page in your document.

Create Header
Click View on the menu bar
Click Header and Footer

Word displays the "Header" Window and the header/footer toolbar which is a floating toolbar.

This completes the header. Now for the footer.
